Once upon a pretty time, it was enough just to be handsome to be a Dazzler of the Day. Let’s return to those simpler days, and crown Tobias Reuter as today’s Dazzler. A male model is more than magical enough to properly dazzle. That’s all.

Dazzler of the Day: David Gandy
Long before Theo James slipped his apparatus into the iconic Dolce & Gabbana white Speedo, David Gandy was selling his wares with his sculpted body, and his legendary work as a male model has more than earned this Dazzler of the Day crowning. These days, Gandy has his own line of clothing, and a company and website that was the only one sensitive enough to allow for opting out of Father’s Day messages – something that feels refreshingly caring in a world where not much really matters anymore. Here’s a reminder of what made Gandy so transfixing in the first place – check out his website and clothing line – David Gandy Wellwear – for more brilliance.

Dazzler of the Day: Brock Grady
Sometimes all it takes to be named Dazzler of the Day is a certain degree of beauty.
Sometimes beauty is its own point, its own purpose.
Brock Grady possesses such beauty, and from all appearances seems like an overall good guy. More than ample reason to celebrate his power to dazzle.

Dazzler of the Day: Todd Sanfield
Vanity fashion lines come and go awfully quickly these days, but one of the most enduring and compelling has been the one started by Todd Sanfield, whose body walks the walk that his products talk. Sanfield created his underwear line 13 years ago, and has been modeling and promoting it consistently ever since. It’s expanded into swimwear too, and at the helm of it all is Sanfield himself. That sort of singular drive and determination is what sets him apart from those that have fizzled. Earning his first Dazzler of the Day (after having been named a hunk in several previous incarnations in these parts) Sanfield is still offering scintillating images and products to match. Check out his offerings here.

Underwear by Dominic Albano
Recently featured as a Dazzler of the Day here, Dominic Albano launches his first foray into underwear this week, drawing on years of modeling and fashion experience. His self-monikered line features the sort of sexy designs he’s so proficient at showing off for other designers, and it’s always a treat when the designer can say they have walked a mile in the clothing they are selling.
Albano is coming off a scintillating retro-styled piece for the online version of Playgirl Magazine, and a retro-feel informs the promotional images for his current underwear campaign. The lighting and feel are moody, evoking and playing up the sultry gaze that Albano has come to embody in much of his modeling work. It’s the perfect sales pitch for underwear, which is largely about selling sex, but should also come with comfort and function. Both seem to play a part in the new line, which keeps the flashy and colorful excess of many other underwear offerings to a minimum, relying on basic neutrals and classic cuts.
Centering it all is Albano’s focused determination on building a brand and his familiarity with the product. There is a carefulness and deliberate cultivation of his image, but also a courage in doing things entirely his own way. Check out the new line of underwear at his website here.

Dazzler of the Day: Dominic Albano
Dominic Albano heads into 2023 with a new underwear enterprise, after a year that found him heralding the return of Playgirl magazine with a sizzling cover shoot as their Man of the Month. For both those endeavors, he handily earns this first crowning as Dazzler of the Day. While many admire Albano for his philosophical contradiction of being a socially-introverted superstar, and the heavy weight that goes allow with such an often-tortured personality juxtaposition, he’s also quite easy on the eyes. Dazzlers that dazzle from within and without will always have a place here. Keep your eye out for his new underwear line launching next month – at which point we’ll do another feature on him.

Dazzler of the Day: Edison Fan
Openly-gay social influencer, LGBTQ+ advocate, and founder of OMG Sportswear, Edison Fan is a self-made phenomenon, and now he can add Dazzler of the Day to that impressive curriculum vitae. He recently celebrated his 40th birthday, proof that not all social media maestros are under the age of twenty.

The Smell of Sex in the 90’s: Cheese Please Louise
My sexual awakening happened in the 1990’s, just as Calvin Klein’s ‘One’ unisex cologne was taking off everywhere, and his androgynous black and white ad campaigns with Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg were all the rage. Marky Mark never did much for me; my attention was grasped by this male model’s non-gaze and prone pose for Davidoff’s ‘Zino’ cologne, so much so that I bought it blindly, without trying it on, and it was a bum decision that I have regretted ever since. (Kids, don’t try this at home, despite what this post says.)
Davidoff was responsible for ‘Cool Water’ which, being the good burgeoning gay boy I was in the 90’s, was a staple for my earliest fragrance forays, right next to Curve by Liz Claiborne. I think you can still find both at your local CVS or Walgreen’s. I shamefully digress… but that was the ghastly initiation into cologne that most of us had at the time. (Tom Ford wasn’t even the Creative Director at Gucci then.)
When I got the bottle of Zino back to my dorm room, and discovered its less-than-desirable odor, I decided not to waste it and instead put it to work as part of my own little ‘Sex’ project, directly inspired by Madonna. More on that, and her, later this fall when we properly pay homage to her ‘Erotica’ period and its 30th anniversary this October. Back then, it was all new, as was this Nick Scotti song on which she sang back-up. It was originally written for her, but she gave it to him and only appears as a backing vocalist. Somehow, even that small contribution gives it the Madonna magic that was in full effect in the early 90’s.
I put this song on a mix tape I made for that ‘Sex’ project, because in the early 90’s that’s what we were still doing. A playlist was an unfathomable idea way back then, and we were limited to the 90 minutes of a double-sided cassette tape. That was more than enough time to aurally get off, and this song kicked off such an aural extravaganza as my friends opened their mail to xeroxed images of me in and out of my Calvins. Baby steps for a budding project-maker.
While I’d like to say that I did it all for a driving creative desire to flesh out the fantasies running through my mind, that is only partially true. A significant impetus for why I did it all, and perhaps why I still do it, was to make sure that my friends – the people who meant the most to me during those treacherous high school years I almost didn’t survive – would not forget me. If I assigned myself with things that they would see or experience – such as Madonna, or a cologne ad and fragrance that would take the mainstream media by storm – then maybe they would remember me. A childish, futile effort, to be sure, but one that I took up with all the fanfare and hoopla of a proper pop culture lightning strike.
As for Zino by Davidoff, it only ever got to be the signature fragrance of that ‘Sex’ project release, scenting the writing and photos I sent out to my friends during the month of October in the year of our Lord 1993.

Olympic Spotlight: Nathan Crumpton
Taking over the shirtless baton in the Winter Olympics (with a respectful nod to Pita Taufatofua) this is Nathan Crumpton, who just walked into the Olympic Opening ceremony sans shirt, waving the flag for American Samoa. Crumpton is competing as a skeleton racer, but he also works as a model and photographer, for obvious reasons. Check out his amazing website here.

Dazzler of the Day: Robert Scott Wilson
He paved the way for the male models on ‘The Price is Right’ and for that reason alone Robert Scott Wilson more than justifies his selection as Dazzler of the Day. Add his popular work on ‘Days of Our Lives‘ and you have a daytime double-header that just might bring me back to Salem after all these years. It’s been way too long since we’ve had a male model as Dazzler of the Day, so let’s make a concerted effort to return to such frivolous innocence.
