If her impressive body of Broadway work wasn’t enough to merit this honor, her turn on last night’s Tony Awards certainly cements the deal. This is Joaquina Kalukango, who also won a Tony Award last night for her soul-seering work in ‘Paradise Road’. Today she earns this Dazzler of the Day, and is no doubt on her way to more compelling accolades.
Having already garnered the online attention of Mariah Carey herself, Miles Davis Moody cements his status as Dazzler of the Day thanks solely to his smoldering stare. A member of the adored and idolized Pit Crew of RuPaul’s Drag Race, Moody has made a splash on television and all his social media outlets.
Joining his ‘Fire Island’ co-stars Margaret Cho and Bowen Yang, this marks the first Dazzler of the Day feature for James Scully. He’s appeared in the series of ‘Heathers’ and ‘You’, but it’s his turn in ‘Fire Island’ that has heads swiveling.
Bowen Yang is riding high on a couple of years of pop-culture crowning achievements, from that spectacular turn as an iceberg (and consistently strong and dependable hilarity) on ‘Saturday Night Live’ to his current starring role in the gay rom-com ‘Fire Island’ (with fellow Dazzler alum Margaret Cho). Now he earns his long overdue honor as Dazzler of the Day for all his ongoing fabulousness.
With our ever-growing tally of mass shootings, America is broken. No other country on earth has such an astounding number of fatalities due to guns, and I’m not sure we as Americans collectively have the will to stop it. Until we do, more people, and more children, will die. One person who gives me hope in all of this is David Hogg, who has fought tirelessly for gun reform since being involved in a school shooting himself. He and his sister wrote the book “#NeverAgain: A New Generation Draws the Line” and he continue to work tirelessly to save more kids from mass shootings. It seems a little silly to name such a powerful and important figure at this moment in history as a Dazzler of the Day, but it’s all I’ve got to give, and if it helps spread his message for gun reform, so much the better.
Good news!! Ariana Grande earns her very first crowning as Dazzler of the Day as she prepares for her role as Galinda (the ‘A’ is silent) in the upcoming two-part ‘Wicked‘ movie. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Grande’s acting prowess when she’s appears in various musicals and shows such as ‘Saturday Night Live’, so I’m giving her a chance in Kristin Chenoweth’s vaunted heels. After all, it’s not about aptitude, it’s the way you’re viewed…
He’s appeared here in his underwear before, touting his gorgeous coffee-table book ‘Room XIV‘ and his bodacious body of work, and now he is making his debut as Dazzler of the Day. All of that is on luminescent display in her turn as Wye in ‘Port Authority’, as well as in her extensive modeling work. Trailblazing, groundbreaking, and a superstar-in-the-making ~ watch her shine.
This marks Ricky Schroeder’s second appearance as Dazzler of the Day, following his very first time here, and it’s a well-deserved honor, timed to coincide with his fundraising efforts for the 30th anniversary of Broadway Bares, which raises money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Schroeder has been one of stand-outs in that entertaining enterprise (this is his tenth year taking part), and looks to continue that red-hot streak as the show returns to its live, in-person glory.

Sometimes all it takes for someone to be named Dazzler of the Day is the right ball outfit. Case in point is Manu Rios, who earns his this Dazzler thanks to this magnificent suit by Jeremy Scott for Moschino. It was part of Moschino’s well-dressed entourage for this year’s Met Gala, and while I’m not sure what this had to do with Gilded Glamour, themes were meant to be broken if done in such an impressive manner. Rios is an actor, model, and singer who can now add Dazzler to that line-up.

Not gonna lie: I’m an old-school Paula Abdul fan who has loved her every move and motion since she was choreographing Janet Jackson all those years ago. Adored and jammed out to her first album, fell in love with the second, and went ‘Head Over Heels’ for her third. Since then, I’ve kept an eye on all her various entertainment endeavors, and for anyone to survive and thrive in Hollywood for such a length of time is more than worthy of this Dazzler of the Day honor. Somehow, she also seems to have kept her indefatigable spirit and sense of humor – traits that no doubt have helped her along the way. She’s forever our girl.
The majesty and might of Mindy Kaling makes her an instant and ideal choice as Dazzler of the Day. She first came to many people’s notice during her run in the US version of ‘The Office’ but for me it was her scene-stealing supporting role in ‘Ocean’s 8’ where she matched on-screen dazzle with the likes of Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Awkwafina, Sarah Paulson, and Rhianna. That is no mean feat, nor is it the majority of what Kaling has accomplished: witness her work as writer, comedian, and actress – and marvel at her multi-hyphenate talent. (Frivolous bonus points: her red-carpet fashion is to-die-for.)
A person with such insouciant charm and magnetism deserves to have their names in all caps, and today we honor JORDY as Dazzler of the Day thanks to his creative talent and transfixing personality. His website offers more enchantment for those seeking to solve his mysteries, and he was recently announced as one of the headliners for this year’s Capital Pride Festival in Albany. His music, filled with catchy hooks and pop melodies, focuses on love and loneliness, giving listeners just a little bit more to chew on than your average pop song.
